Raise a pint and settle in for Harvest Harmony, a joyful celebration of autumn’s bounty come to life in the festive atmosphere of Fremont Brewing Company—with drinks and snacks included in your ticket. Choral Arts Northwest journeys from English wassails and Basque harvest songs to German lieder, Indonesian folk melodies, and Appalachian fiddle tunes, with vibrant stops in Spain and the Pacific Northwest. Collaborative pianist Serena Chin and violinist/fiddler Evan Hjort bring rich instrumental color throughout, from the toe-tapping energy of Wild Fiddler’s Rag and Apple Ale Wassail to the lyrical beauty of Fanny Hensel’s Herbstlied and Kevin Puts’s soaring violin solo Caprice. Featuring composers both celebrated and contemporary—Brahms, Schubert, and Gade alongside living voices like Sarah Quartel, Jacob Narverud, and Andrew Jacobson—this program threads together toasts, laments, dances, and drinking songs from centuries and cultures apart. Raise your glass along with the choir for a Swedish toast, tap your foot to a Batak folk tune from North Sumatra, or sing along to a Scottish farewell—this is choral music the way it was always meant to be enjoyed: rousing, warm, and shared among friends. Come taste the flavors of autumn in song and in pint, and toast the season with Choral Arts Northwest at the Fremont Brewing Company.
